5 Russian Wagner mercenaries killed in deadly Mali ambush

No fewer than five Russian Wagner mercenaries were killed on Thursday in a deadly ambush in Mali.

According to a report by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the mercenaries who were on patrol were ambushed by militants from the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) near Djiguibombo, between Bandiagara and Bankass in the Mopti region.

Zagazola understand that the ambush occurred along the strategic “Snake Road” and resulted in the loss of two light armored vehicles, which were seized by the attackers.

The JNIM has claimed responsibility for the assault, releasing graphic images and videos of the aftermath, further underscoring their operational presence in the area.
