Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has announced a N200,000 bonus for each of the Batch B, Stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.

The bonus is intended to encourage the 1,600 corps members to remain and serve in Niger State.

Governor Bago made this announcement during the NYSC Batch B, Stream 1 orientation ceremony at the temporary camp in Paikoro on Tuesday. He emphasized the state’s commitment to making corps members’ service period comfortable and rewarding.

In addition to the bonuses, Governor Bago revealed that corps members who engage in agriculture could earn up to N500,000 monthly. He also announced a N5 billion investment for the start-up of a new NYSC camp.

“I am crediting each of your accounts with N200,000. This will enable you to be comfortable to stay in Niger State. This is to show you that there is prosperity in Niger State. I will do my best to ensure that Corpers enjoy serving in Niger State,” Bago stated.

Further demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the corps members, the governor ordered the construction of additional toilets, the drilling of five boreholes at the temporary camp, and pledged to provide 20 cows and a trailer load of rice for their welfare.

Additionally, Governor Bago announced automatic employment for corps members in the medical and health fields and encouraged others to contribute to the state’s agricultural sector.
