In a devastating accident in the Amuloko area of Ibadan, six people lost their lives, while five others sustained serious injuries.

The accident, which occurred earlier today, involved two trucks, a tricycle, and a commercial motorcycle, commonly known as an “Okada.”

According to an eyewitness account, the incident was triggered by a trailer that lost control while descending a steep section of the road. The out-of-control vehicle caused a chain reaction, leading to the tragic collision.

Sadly, among the victims were some school children who were on their way to school.

A mother, who was believed to be escorting her child to school, was among those who died in the crash. Fortunately, her child, though injured, survived the accident with minor injuries.

“The trailer was coming down the slope when its brake system failed. Another truck coming behind was trying to avoid collision and crashed into a tricycle which was conveying some students and other passengers.”

“Before help could come, some of the passengers had died while some were injured.”

The injured victims including two school children were rushed to Amuloko City Hospital for treatment.

A member of the Oyo Road Transport Maintenance Agency (OYRTMA), who was not authorized to speak noted that the accident happened early in the morning on Monday.

He confirmed that the accident was caused by the trailer which lost control while descending a slope. The trailer crushed a tricycle and a truck.

He said six people died and five others were injured.

Dr. Raji Wale, the Managing Director of Amuloko City Hospital, confirmed that four patients were brought to his hospital. “Six injured victims were brought here. Two have been treated as outpatients while two children are still being treated. One of the children was in the tricycle with his mother who unfortunately died”.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Oyo State through Mrs Rosemary Alo confirmed the accident. She, however, could not give details because she was waiting for the team sent to the scene of the accident.
