A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) groups from the North-Central region say it has halted its campaign for the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s National Chairman.

The coalition’s chairman, Abdullahi Zazzaga, revealed the development during an interview with DCL Hausa on Wednesday.

Zazzaga explained that senior political figures from the region advised the group to hold off on its demands, particularly with the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting approaching.

He emphasized that their movement is driven by the desire to secure the political and economic interests of the region.

“We have agitated steadfastly, and we have been heard loud and clear. This will not be the end of our agitation. We are doing it for our people,” Zazzaga said.

He further explained the reasons behind the temporary suspension, stating, “We suspended this agitation because we had a talk with our superiors. We sat at a table with them. They cited the upcoming NEC meeting of the party. They asked us to give the NEC a chance to make a final decision on the matter.”

Zazzaga noted that the coalition remains committed to advocating for the well-being of their region, adding, “We will wait to see what the NEC will do about it. Everybody in this country knows that we have agitated for the good of our people and our region. But we can’t go ahead with the agitation since we had a talk with our superiors.”

The group insists that while the current agitation has been put on hold, their advocacy for better representation and opportunities for the North-Central region is far from over.
